The Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) is one of the most important federal policy mechanisms to support the growth of solar energy in the United States.
It provides a 30% tax credit on purchasing and installing qualifying products in renewable technologies such as solar electric property, residential solar water heating, qualified small wind energy, and qualified geothermal heat pump energy, among others.
When you purchase a solar-powered skylight or adding extra equipment (eg. solar blinds to a fixed or manual skylight), your entire purchase and installation become a solar system that’s eligible for a 30% federal tax credit.
